The History of Ye Olde Malthouse in Tintagel
Ye Olde Malthouse is reputed to date back to the late 14th Century, and over the years has retained much of its olde worlde charm, whilst catering for modern day comforts.
We have a comfortable TV lounge which originally had two fireplaces, one of which has been converted into an alcove. Our evening dining room is very old with a slit window in the fire place wall and a beamed ceiling. We have an old well which is around 40ft deep and may have been used for the brewing of beer in bygone days.
The Malthouse abounds with antiquity and even a tunnel was discovered at the back of the malthouse going down to the vicarage. This has now been boarded over and lies underneath the present drive leading up to the car park.
Why not try our Winter Breaks which are available out of season? We look forward to welcoming you to Ye Olde Malthouse and to making your stay an enjoyable and memorable occasion. |
